A site where you can request and compare South African car, home, life, business, medical and travel insurance quotes online.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The lack of comparison sites in South Africa.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
In 2000, it was a forum site for ESL teachers.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I like dogs and insurance :)
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We make use of brokers, direct insurers and traditional insurance companies to supply quites. We are also totally independent and are thus not biased.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To expand into other countries.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It doesn't and won't balance for a few years.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I wouldn't. I'd spend the money on marketing.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Designers only delivering 80% of what was promised.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting it finished instead of continuing to add functionality

Word of mouth
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't. I've run many sites before so nothing has come as a surprise.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
3 days. I'll run it until the internet becomes obsolete.
