Gateway Insurance Solutions Interview

By Interviewer at 02/25/08 17:19

Name of your website?

Gateway Insurance Solutions

Your name?

Kavin M. Chambers

Your Location (city, etc)

St. Louis

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Gateway Insurance Solutions is a licensed Missouri health insurance broker based in St. Louis. We specialize in finding quality and affordable health insurance for individuals, families, self-employed professionals and small businesses.

We provide a consultative sales experience for our clients that's sole purpose is to fulfill the specific needs of each individual.

Gateway believes that educating Missouri's health insurance consumers on the options that are available is the first step in creating the peace of mind that the right policy will provide.

Our list of carriers consists of only the highest rated insurance companies in America. These companies must display the ability to uphold the high standards and integrity that Gateway demands for its clients.

At Gateway Insurance Solutions - We work for our clients, not the insurance company.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

As a captive agent with one of the large "big name" insurance carriers for many years, I was never able to spend the quality time that is needed with my clients. Working for the "big-guys", you are required to SELL SELL SELL. All with out giving the personal attention to your clients.

Starting Gateway Insurance Solutions changed all that. Now, myself and my staff are able to take our time HELPING our clients as opposed to selling our clients. We have found people truly enjoy the personal attention and leave with a sense of relief that someane really cares about protecting their family.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

It was about four years ago. It was a website for discount clothing for college students. It was more of an experiment than anything else.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It was the name of my agency. Just made sense.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The plethra of educational information. Health insurance is complicated. We like to educate our clients as much as possible so they can feel informed and knowledgable about the decision they make for health insurance.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to be the leader in health insurance in the Midwest. We want people to think of us when they are in need of unbiased and clear answers to their health insurance questions.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Personally I work close to 14 hours a day. Sometimes 7 days a week. I am very dedicated to the success and growth of this agency. Thus far we have helped hundreds of clients. That is the ultimate payoff.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We would certainly advertise more and grow our online presence. We seek to reach clients across the Midwest.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I believe so. We are adding more personelle every month.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Marketing a website for true success has proved to be a challenge. Everyone wants $30/month here and $100/month there. It adds up quick.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Search Engine Optimization!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Posting on directories and writing articles. Blog posting has helped as well.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's a full time job.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Its been live for about 6 months. We learn something new everyday. We have no plans of throwing in the towel anytime soon.

What is your website address?

Gateway Insurance Solutions
