EFS expat protection Interview

By Interviewer at 06/03/08 12:16

Name of your website?

EFS expat protection

Your name?

Kevin Jenkins

Your Location (city, etc)

Plougasnou

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This EFS website is designed such that any expat. can seek and receive a fee free professional advisory and quotation service whereby protection for the family is being sought or if a business, protection for the partner's/director's beneficiaries.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have had over 30 years experience in the field of providing advice under the headings of Insurance protection as well as Savings and Investments for retirement, school fees planning etc. (There is a "sister" web site about to be launched to provide a similar service but focused on the savings side of things! ).

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

About 18 months ago. But it is only now that I have the time to devote to building up my web based activity.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

EFS stands for "expatriate financial services" and is my trading acronym and the rest of the name spells out the fact that Life Insurance is all about providing protection when most needed !

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It is clean, attractive, very visual but with excellent content in the scroll text box. It is altogether very "user-friendly".

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My initial goal is to ensure that the site provides a good service to all those who make enquiries as well as - naturally - providing a worthwhile income stream.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

That, I guess, very much remains to be seen as it is only very recently that I have begun to devote all my effort with the development of my web based business.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I wouldn't.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, as I have many many contacts as to how to staff up.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Famialiarising myself with all the detail surrounding how best to market and promote my two web sites.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To date, to remain focused and not to get sidetracked into the more esoteric areas of how best to succeed in what is in some ways a niche activity.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Too early to tell.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Too early to tell.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The existing site has not been worked on until now. Hence the existing site and it's "sister" site are only now getting proper attention. I will give myself two clear years.

how have I found feedback so far

I have had an excellent feed back from friends, colleagues, clients as to how attractive they have found my site and this has surprised them as so many Financial Services web sites are cluttered, messy and not user-friendly. And yet this visual impact has not been at the expense of content and the ability to make easy and quick contact for further information, quotations etc.

What is your website address?
